This weekend my parents and brother Thomas returned from a 9000km fishing trip to North Cape and had some stories to share.
The image above shows the recreation of a long-house at a Viking Museum in a small village called Borg on the Lofoten Islands. It reveals interesting aspects of viking society. For instance in this case they didn't build several small houses for each family but created one big building (approximately 9m high and 83m long) where the horde shared living quarters, stables and a banquet hall.
If Borg sounds familiar to you in a different context, read on about how
script writers of Star Trek were inspired by viking history.
