Bei orf.at ist man offensichtlich grad dabei, Google Wave in die Hauptseite zu integrieren. Realtime-Collaboration at its best.

Mein Bruder Thomas und seine Freundin Birgit haben rechtzeitig zum Weihnachtsgeschäft ihr eigenes kleines österreichisches Startup aus der Taufe gehoben: BlixiPix Acrylbilder.

Mit dem Online-Editor BlixiPix Creator kann man eigene Motive (via Upload oder Facebook Connect) bearbeiten und sie als von Birgit höchstpersönlich handgemalte, großflächige Acrylbilder bestellen. Die fertigen Bilder, die ich bisher gesehen hab, haben mich jedenfalls beeindruckt.

Die technische Umsetzung des Online-Auftritts ist auch etwas Spezielles: Der Creator in Eigenentwicklung (PHP + mootools), opencart für den Shop und wordpress fürs Blog nutzen Facebook Connect als Unified Login. Online-Shop mit FB Connect Integration hab ich jedenfalls noch kaum wenn überhaupt gesehen.

Die geförderten Netidee Projekte 2009 sind online.

Interessant: Das Fördervolumen beträgt 500.000 Euro, gefördert werden pro Projekt bis zu 50.000 Euro. Allerdings: 500k Euro durch 8 geförderte Projekte macht 62.500 Euro durchschnittlich pro Projekt. Entweder jemand bekommt mehr oder es sind irgendwo 100.000 Euro auf der Strecke geblieben. Ich würd's nehmen ;-).

Very much inspired by yesterday's xkds's movie narrative charts, I started another approach in visualizing conversations in Twitter using a time-line mixed with a physics engine.

The chart shows three hours of conversations around the #unibrennt hashtag which is used by students who occupy Austria's largest lecture hall at the University of Vienna to stand up against the devastating status of the country's educational system and where it's heading.

I see lots of room for improvement in this technique, but I just put this together in a few hours to see how it works. Of course it would be very interested to do this with all the data related to the hashtag to analyze communication patterns and to see how the whole process started.

It was done using processing and Rhizome Navigation.
