Quintura

Interessant.

technorati vs. icerocket

I finally gave up on technorati. The service itself is still a great idea, the API is quite good. However, the page too often seems slow and many including me have problems indexing their pages.

So I switched to Icerocket.com. Looks good so far. Indexing seems fast.

From now on the tags for each posting link to an icerocket-result-page to my del.icio.us account focusing on the tag and my blog. In addition I wrote a tagcloud plugin for PhpWiki using metadata info from the wiki pages. Finally the Conversation-link below each post links to a icerocket-result-page showing inlinks for that particular post.

quintura

IMHO quintura is on the right track. Based on your search terms the search engine renders a word map very much like the cover from the German translation of Deleuze's and Guattari's Capitalisme et Schizophrénie, tome 2 : Mille Plateaux.

What I like about it: It's very intuitive and it's implemented without using plugins (Java or Flash) just making heavy use of some javascript framework (had no time yet to find out which). I'd like to have a interface like that for my del.icio.us tags.

Google Acronym Search

This was new to me: Google's Search is trying to decipher acronyms.

Look here for a search on SGI.

Lijit (Explore)

I removed the Lijit Widget from the page. The idea is great, but search was simply too slow. I replaced it with PhpWiki's builtin FullTextSearch at the top right.

However, if you want to try out Lijit on myob you may still do so below (permalink). And I encourage you to try out the widget's explore button for some highly addictive social network browsing (didn't work in Firefox for me, try Safari - dunno about IE).

future is now

Findory Fades

Findory RIP.

Update: Three months later Greg-Linden joins Live Labs. (via chris)

quintura search

IMHO quintura improved significantly since my last visit a year ago. The interface is even more ajaxy and updates search results automatically depending on what you're doing on the word map. And it's good that they put the search results from bottem to the right.

As I said I wished for an interface like that to browse del.icio.us tags.
Well, quintura can do that now!

PS: To see their widget in action please view this posting on my blog.
